QUESTIONS & ANSWERS / YOURABLECASE
Straight answers, no jargon.
Find practical answers about SSDI, SSI, denials, evidence, representation, and what happens when you request a review.
THE GUIDE / 01
Applying for benefits
Where do I apply officially?
Use SSA.gov/apply or contact SSA. Our form is only a law-firm intake request.
Can I apply for both SSDI and SSI?
Some people can qualify for both. SSA reviews each program under its own rules.
When should I start?
SSA recommends applying promptly when you become disabled. Do not wait for a private review to protect a filing date.
THE GUIDE / 02
Denials and appeals
What if I was denied?
Keep the notice and check the applicable appeal process immediately.
How much time do I have?
Most administrative appeals must be requested within 60 days after receipt of the decision. Your actual notice and exceptions matter.
Can your website appeal for me?
No. It sends an inquiry to the firm but does not submit an SSA appeal.
THE GUIDE / 03
Medical information
Do I need a medical diagnosis?
SSA requires supporting evidence, and the impact on your ability to work is important.
Should I upload records now?
No. The public intake intentionally does not collect records, SSNs, or identity documents.
What if I have several conditions?
SSA assesses impairments under its rules; a complete picture of your limitations can matter.
THE GUIDE / 04
Working with our team
Does the review cost money?
There is no charge to submit the initial review request.
Am I represented when I click submit?
No. The firm must separately accept your matter and complete any necessary representation documents.
Who sees my request?
It is intended for authorized law-firm intake personnel in the private ABLECASE workspace, subject to hosting and privacy controls.
